What services are available?
In line with national requirements, every person with Diabetes has the opportunity to have their eyes screened annually for Diabetic Retinopathy, an eye condition related to Diabetes. Woolcott Opticians participate in this scheme together with other registered opticians
How can I access these services?
The programme is run centrally by the PCT. Patients should receive a letter every 12 months, inviting them to make a screening appointment.
If for any reason you do not receive a letter, please contact your GP practice to advise them.
Where are the services provided?
Diabetic Retinopathy Screening is provided by registered optometrists, who are based in high street opticians throughout Ashfield, Mansfield District and Newark & Sherwood.
This service also extends to people with Diabetes who live within the boundaries of Bassetlaw PCT, with optometrists providing screening in Worksop and Retford.
When are the services available?
Diabetic Retinopathy Screening is generally provided during normal working hours at the registered optometrists, and usually works by appointment system only.
